Domestic Abuse – My Story

In this video, Sammi Maria talks about her experiences with domestic violence. She opens up that her ex boyfriend who abused her posted a video online denying these claims and Sammi shares her side of the story in this candid video. She opens up that it is an emotional experience to go through, especially when your private life is put online and dissected by people who do not know you.

This video also explains why victims of domestic violence might not open up about their experiences of abuse. It shows the raw and true emotion of a young adult who has gone through domestic violence. If you are a young person who is in an abusive relationship, talk to someone who you trust, if only so there is a safe place for you to go.

This video is kind of rambly and hard to follow at some points but this is due to the amount of emotion that is contained within this topic. It highlights victim blaming and secondary victimisation of not being believed. It’s also a great look into the YouTube culture where everyone’s private life becomes public to be dissected and analysed by a willing crowd of strangers.
